§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what British aid funds have been contributed or pledged, directly or indirectly, through the European Community or other international agencies, to the Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference.
§ Mr. RaisonThe British Government have pledged £12 million to the Southern African Development Coordination Conference, of which just over £10 million has been committed to railway improvement in Mozambique and the rest is reserved for manpower development, port management and fisheries research. In January the European Community pledged about $2 million from the European development fund to help finance the SADCC 163W secretariat, and we shall bear our rated share of this. I do not have details of pledges made by other international agencies to whose work we make general contributions from the aid programme.
