§ Mr. McQuarrieasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if, in order to allow the potato industry to make plans, he will make an early decision on the new potato scheme at present being studied by a working group;
(2) if he will make a statement on the progress of the new potato scheme which is being studied by a joint working group set up by him.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithDiscussions are continuing with all sectors of the industry about possible changes to the potato support arrangements. Decisions will be made 363W when the review group's recommendations are known. Any changes which may result from the review will not affect the 1983 potato crop, to which the present support arrangements will apply.
