§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many war disabled and war widow pensioners are not also in receipt of the Ministry of Defence service attributable pension or service attributable widow's pension, which was introduced in April 1973; and if he will estimate the cost of introducing a supplementary allowance payable to such war disabled and war widow pensioners at a rate of (a) £5 and (b) £10 per week.
§ Mr. RossiThere are 306,000 war disabled and war widow pensioners. Only a small minority of them also receive a service attributable pension from the Ministry of Defence but it is not known how many. The annual cost of introducing a supplementary allowance as described is estimated to be in the region of(a) £75–80 million (b) £150–160 million.
