§ Mr. John Stradling ThomasThe annual running cost of the Welsh Office translation unit for the last financial year was £78,280, covering basic staff costs at current pay scales, accommodation and common service costs. The unit is staffed by five translators. The type of work processed is not recorded annually in the categories framed in this question, but out of approximately 3,000 separate pieces of work translated in any one year varying from a lengthy report to a short letter, some 2,000 would be letters.
