§ Mr. Dykesasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has yet completed the current year's review of the trunk road programme.
§ Mr. David Howell:The report "Roads in England 1982" published today announces the addition to the active trunk road programme of over 20 new schemes. Between them these will bypass 20 more towns and villages and make major improvements to certain roads carrying heavy industrial traffic in Liverpool, Greater Manchester and elsewhere. The report is an interim one. I hope to publish next year a fuller review of the medium and longer-term prospects for our main road system.
