§ Miss Maynard
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in the light of the current level of unemployment, Her Majesty's Government will cease to employ men to clean Government offices and mow grass on Government premises on Saturday afternoons.
§ Sir George Young:
No. Cleaning Government offices is not for PSA but for the occupying Departments. PSA does carry out ground maintenance, normally through fixed price contracts, and it is entirely for the contractor to decide whether he carries out the work on Saturday afternoons.
