§ Mr. Neil Thorneasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give details of any research sponsored by his Department into urea-formaldehyde foam and its effect on health.
§ Mr. Waddington:I am advised by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the Health and Safety Executive is not sponsoring any research into urea-formaldehyde foam and its effects on health. Since this material is used in buildings this is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment, and I understand that his Department is sponsoring certain work.
