§ Mr. Buchanan-Smith:The latest estimate of total per capita consumption of sugar in the United Kingdom relates to 1980, in which year it is estimated to be 40.1 kg (per year). This includes the sugar content of all home-produced and imported manufactured foods for 35W consumption in the United Kingdom and sugar used in brewing. The estimate is based on figures of United Kingdom production plus imports less exports of sugar and allows for estimates of the sugar content of imported and exported manufactured foods.
