§ The Prime MinisterStatutes vary from industry to industry, but Ministers normally have powers of general direction over nationalised industries which can be exercised in the national interest. In certain circumstances, which would be a matter for consideration in each individual case, it might be possible to use these powers to require industries, in general terms, to reduce their advertising expenditure.
