HC Deb 29 November 1982 vol 33 c19W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Prime Minister to what Civil Service grade Sir Anthony Parsons will be appointed; and from which Vote his salary will be paid.

The Prime Minister

Sir Anthony Parson's appointment carries the grading of second permanent secretary; his salary will be borne on Central Management of the Civil Service, etc. (Management and Personnel Office) Class XIII, Vote 12.

Mr. Foulkes

asked the Prime Minister, pursuant to her reply to the hon. Member for West Lothian (Mr. Dalyell) on 24 November, if she will list the other Departments with an interest in foreign affairs.

The Prime Minister

Many Departments have an interest in foreign affairs. For example, the Ministry of Defence in a wide range of issues affecting our national security; the Treasury in those affecting the world economy; the Departments of Trade and Industry in the prospects for British exports in the light of the political and economic climate in individual overseas countries; and other Departments in developments in specific fields of concern to them.
