§ Rev. Ian Paisleyasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will now state the date on which the sworn public inquiry, which he has promised, into the Kincora case will commence; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. PriorI understand that the results of the investigations by the Royal Ulster Constabulary are now with the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland and that the investigations into the allegations about the way in which the Royal Ulster Constabulary conducted its earlier inquiries, which the chief constable asked Her Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary to arrange for the chief constable of another force to undertake, are nearing completion.
I must await the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland as to whether any further charges are to be made before coming to the House with any proposals for an independent judicial inquiry.
