§ 65. Mr. Gregor MacKenzieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the high number of people now unemployed in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang areas, he will take steps to provide training and retraining facilites in these communities.
§ Mr. YoungerThe full range of training schemes provided by the Manpower Services Commission is already readily accessible to people in Rugherglen and Cambuslang. In addition, from September next year all 16-year-old school leavers and some unemployed 17-year-olds in these areas will be able to participate in the new youth training scheme, under which they will receive a year-long programme of off-the-job training, work experience and further education.
