HC Deb 19 November 1982 vol 32 cc319-20W
Mr. McQuarrie

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis on the circumstances surrounding the illegal entry of 14 persons to the offices of the Secretary of State for Scotland on Thursday 11 November; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Whitelaw

I understand from the commissioner that at 7.35 pm on 11 November 16 people gained access to the Scottish Office, Whitehall, to make, they said, a peaceful demonstration. My right hon. Friend was not present at the time. Thq police were called and escorted the demonstrators to a police station before they were released. I understand that none has been charged in connection with the incident.
