HC Deb 19 November 1982 vol 32 c320W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the current curriculum for police cadets at the Hendon police training school.

Mr. Mayhew

The training of cadets is a matter for the commissioner. We understand that the curriculum is designed to develop the social awareness and powers of leadership of the cadets, their academic potential and their physical fitness, and to give them an elementary knowledge of the police duties in which those who later become police recruits will be trained. It is kept under review by the staff at Hendon, and multicultural studies are continuing to be taught.
