HC Deb 19 November 1982 vol 32 c296W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Wales why there has been a delay in deciding whether Gelli farm, Cymmer, Port Talbot, should be listed as a building of architectural and historical interest, pursuant to the request of the Afan council's borough engineer on 10 May and subsequent telephone calls and letters.

Mr. Michael Roberts

When requests are received to add buildings to the statutory list, priority must be given to buildings threatened by imminent demolition, which was not the case with Gelli farm. Also, it can prove difficult to research fully the history of certain buildings. In this case, it took some time to obtain the information necessary for proper consideration of the request. However, I am pleased to say that a full report has now been compiled which recommends that the farm house should be added to the list of buildings of special architectural or historic interest. This recommendation will be implemented within the next few days.
