HC Deb 19 November 1982 vol 32 cc296-7W
Mr. Montgomery

asked the Prime Minister how many British nationals were detained following incidents at the first test match at Perth, Australia.

The Prime Minister

Sixteen people born in the United Kingdom were arrested during the course of the test match. Most face charges of disorderly conduct. None of those arrested during the first three days' play—which included the incident involving Terry Alderman—was a visitor to Australia or a recent immigrant from the United Kingdom.
