§ Mr. Norman Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will consider making available to pensioners and those in receipt of supplementary benefit a special grant or interdepartmental credit to cover the cost of fees in respect of the registration for British citizenship for those so qualified and resident in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. NewtonI do not think this would be an appropriate use of the supplementary benefit scheme, which is intended to make provision for basic living expenses.
