§ Mr. HayhoeAt 1 October 1982 there were 655,000 staff in post—521,100 non-industrial and 133,900 industrial; that is a reduction of 4,300 since 1 July 1982. The number of civil servants has fallen by 77,300 or 10.6 per cent. since the Government took office.
