HC Deb 11 November 1982 vol 31 c242W
21. Mr. Latham

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement on the representations made to him by the Confederation of British Industry regarding the current state of trade for manufacturing industry.

Mr. Wakeham

The measures announced on 8 November should lead to a considerable reduction in business costs and have been warmly welcomed by the CBI.

23. Mr. Tilley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what matters he expects to discuss at his next meeting with the Confederation of British Industry.

56. Mr. Tom Clarke

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he expects to meet representatives of the Confederation of British Industry to discuss the economy and industrial trends.

39. Mr. Allen McKay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he will be meeting representatives of the Confederation of British Industry to discuss industrial trends.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

I hope shortly to meet, together with colleagues, representatives of the CBI to discuss the outcome of its recent conference and the documents considered there.

28. Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received from the Confederation of British Industry since 16 October about the state of the economy.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

The CBI wrote to me last month with proposals for further measures to help industry and later passed on to me a summary of the views expressed at its conference. The CBI also sent me a copy of its latest report on unemployment.
