§ Dr. VaughanIn July, under the Companies Act 1981, we extended the power of a Crown court to disqualify directors from five years to 15 years; and for the first time for a magistrates' court to disqualify for up to five years. I am now considering the possibility of taking up the Cork committee recommendation for the introduction of civil liability for wrongful trading and also further provisions about the disqualification of directors.
