§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consideration he is giving to the proposals from national and local authority organisations that the producers and carriers of hazardous wastes should be registered and licensed for safety reasons.
§ Mr. Giles ShawMy Department is discussing these and the other recommendations contained in the report of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology on hazardous waste disposal with the local authorities, industry, the waste disposal contractors and environmental interests. These matters are also being considered in the joint review of the Special Waste Regulations.
