HC Deb 26 May 1982 vol 24 cc347-8W
32. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about new hospital building in Midlothian.

Mr. John MacKay

The present major building programme for the National Health Service, which was announced in 1977, envisaged the provision at Dalkeith of 120 beds for the mentally handicapped and 60 for the elderly. The submission of detailed proposals for these beds is a matter for Lothian health board. It is also for the board to develop schemes for long-term general hospital development in its area.
