§ Mr. Giles ShawTwo authorities have contracted out for many years. Four more have recently done so, and forecast total savings of nearly £1 million over the first year. I have reports of nine who have indicated an intention to do so, and of a large further number who are considering it as the benefits become more widely appreciated.
