§ Mr. George Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what procedures and practices exist for members of NATO and members of the European Community, respectively, to inform each other of supplies of weapons or any category of weapons to third countries.
§ Mr. RifkindWithin NATO and the European Community there are no formal procedures for individual countries automatically to inform each other of arms sales, although Her Majesty's Government do, of course, consult their allies as circumstances arise. The hon. Member will be aware that the Community has currently imposed a ban on the export of arms to Argentina.
