§ Dr. Edmund Marshallasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the work and staff of the Customs and Excise provincial collections covering the port of Humber are being transferred away from Humberside to two separate centres.
§ Mr. Bruce-GardyneThe Board of Customs and Excise is proposing to reduce the number of its 329W administrative regions—the "collections"—so as to improve the overall efficiency of the Department. One consequence would be that management responsibility for the work and staff in the areas on either side of the Humber would be allocated to new collections based on Leeds and Nottingham. There would be no change in the customs facilities available in the port of Humber.
