§ Mr. Masonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what contributions the United Kingdom has made to the European Social Fund since British entry to the EEC.
§ Sir Geoffrey Howe[pursuant to his reply 9 March 1982, c. 377.]: Under article 5 of the own resources decision of 21 April 1971, the United Kingdom contributes to the European Community budget as a whole and not to the European social fund separately. Information on our gross and net contributions since acccesion is included in the White Paper on the Government's expenditure plans—Cmnd. 8494, published today.
