HL Deb 04 March 1982 vol 427 cc1449-50WA
Lord Sefton of Garston

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What credence they give to the Securities and Exchange Commission's reported findings that Citibank had broken British tax laws; and whether they will make a statement; and

Whether they will make a statement about the report contained in the Guardian newspaper of 19th February in connection with allegations that "Citibank retroactively changes its 1976 and 1977 books before filing returns with the Inland Revenue"; and whether they intend to take any action in the matter.

Lord Cockfield

This is a matter for the Board of Inland Revenue who have no doubt seen the newspaper
