The council has recently announced that it has appointed Dr. Kenneth Miller as director general and that he will take up his appointment on 1 July. Since the council was set up to operate independently of Government, it is itself responsible for deciding how to pursue the objects set out in its Royal charter. Under the 216W charter the council is required to publish an annual report and, in view of the widespread interest in its work, I propose to place a copy of these reports, as they are published, in the Library of the House.
