§ 19. Mr. Ioan Evansasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will take an early opportunity of discussing with the new chairman of the National Coal Board new investment in the industry, with particular reference to the South Wales coalfield.
§ Mr. John MooreI have had and shall have meetings with Sir Derek Ezra and Mr. Siddall on all aspects of the board's activities, including investment. I am sure the House will want to join me in wishing Sir Derek Ezra well following his retirement on 2 July after 11 years as chairman of the National Coal Board. During this period he has made an outstanding contribution to the development of the industry and has been its most eloquent advocate. The House will also wish to join me in welcoming Mr. Siddal to his vital and challenging new appointment.
