§ 34. Mr. Timothy Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what arrangements he is making to ensure that council house tenants are reminded at regular intervals of their right to buy their houses in accordance with the Housing Act 1980.
§ Mr. StanleyTenants were informed of their rights under the Housing Act 1980 by extensive advertising in October of that year. There was further advertising in 1981 and again in the spring of this year. We shall keep the need for further reminders under review.
§ 36. Mr. Hal Millerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many council and new town corporation houses have been sold since the passage of the enabling legislation; and how many sales are currently being negotiated.
§ Mr. StanleyI refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave earlier today to my hon. Friend the Member for Leek (Mr. Knox). Firm figures for the number of sales being negotiated are available only for the new towns, and these were set out in the answer I gave to my hon.
