§ 34. Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Transport what Government grants have been made towards the national scheme for the training of motor cyclists during each of the past three years.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Government have been contributing towards the running costs of the RAC/ACU national motorcycle training scheme since 1961. The total grants paid in the last three financial years were:
Year £ 1979–80 65,000 1980–81 73,277 1981–82 69,133 A further £80,000 was made available to the STEP star rider national training scheme in 1981–82 to cover a temporary shortfall in the funds which that scheme receives from the British Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
