§ Mr. ButcherFigures provided in the following table relate to the manufacturing activity of the top 100 enterprises in the private sector, defined in terms of their employment in manufacturing. No comparable estimates are available for the stock of manufacturing assets, but figures are shown for net capital expenditure incurred in each year. Estimates relating to 1980 will become available later this year.
