§ Mr. John MacKayThe provisions of section 79 of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 1980 came into operation on 1 February 1981. The sum of £100,000 was allocated for 1981–82, but no application for funding was received in that period. In 1982–83 the sum of £200,000 has been allocated, and two applications are currently under consideration. Several other local authorities have expressed interest in schemes of this type, but it is not possible at this stage to predict how many projects will have been submitted by March 1984.
