§ Sir Marcus Kimballasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in view of the evidence of damage to Caistor high street submitted to him by the hon. Member for Gainsborough, he will now instruct the contractors building the M180 to use Nettleton top quarry rather than the Grasby quarry.
§ Mrs. Chalker[pursuant to her reply, 10 June 1982]: We have consulted the county council and have concluded that it is not practical to instruct the contractor to use Nettleton top quarry rather than Grasby quarry at this stage of the contract.
However, the contractor has agreed to minimise the 1J se of Grasby quarry, and I am informed that the daily haulage of material through Caistor will be reduced and, barring unforeseen circumstances, will be completed within three to four weeks.
