HC Deb 08 June 1982 vol 25 c56W
Sir Frederic Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the names of those countries other than Latin American countries that have supplied military hardware to Argentina since that country invaded the Falkland Islands on 2 April.

Mr. Pattie

While we monitor very closely the movement of arms to Argentina, it would not be appropriate to divulge the extent of our knowledge. We continue to follow up all reports of arms supplies to Argentina from any source. Many of our friends and allies, including NATO, European Community and Commonwealth members, have banned arms sales to Argentina and we have received private assurances from a number of others.

Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he has any evidence that the Argentine Air Force have been obtaining information as to the location of the "Atlantic Conveyor" and other British ships in the Task Force from the Russian Satellites launched in orbit over the South Atlantic shortly before the Argentine invasion of the Falklands or from the Russian nuclear-powered radar ocean surveillance space-craft launched a few days ago.

Mr. Blaker

I have no evidence that the Soviet Union has passed information derived from satellites to Argentina.
