HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 c743W
Sir Bernard Braine

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps are being taken by Her Majesty's Government in company with Community partners to bring about a peaceful and joint settlement of the Cyprus problem.

Mr. Hurd

We have given our full support to the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General to bring about a settlement through the intercommunal talks being held in Cyprus under his auspices. Our partners in the European Community also support these talks, which Her Majesty's Government see as offering the best hope for progress towards a peaceful and just settlement of the Cyprus problem.
