HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 c839W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister if she will seek from the Government of France an assurance that their investigation will include an examination of the contents of the seven-hour telephone conversation which took place between a technical team of Aerospatiale and French and Argentine technicians in Argentina immediately prior to the sinking of HMS "Sheffield".

The Prime Minister

As I said in my answer to the hon. Member on 29 July, the French Government, having instituted an urgent inquiry, issued a statement on 27 July firmly rebutting the allegations, making clear that they have totally fulfilled the obligations imposed on them by theircomplete solidarity with their British ally".

The French Government have made it quite clear that their embargo applies not only to military exports to Argentina but also to associated military technical assistance.
