Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the average number of hours per week worked by agricultural workers, workers in manufacturing, workers in all industry and all workers, respectively, in each of the last 10 years.

The following figures, relating to adult manual men, are taken from the published reports of the New Earnings Survey. Comparable information for women can be obtained from the same report, copies of which are in the Library.

Average weekly hours of full-time manual males aged 21 and over where pay was not affected by absence.
