§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) when he expects there will be a final decision on the proposal to close Oakland school, Middlesbrough;
(2) how many people who have made representations about the closure of Oakland school, Middlesbrough, are in favour of the plans put forward by Cleveland county council; and how many are opposed;
(3) what representations he has received concerning the proposed closure of Oakland school, Middlesbrough.
§ Dr. BoysonCopies of eight letters and a report by the Oakland School Association, all of which express opposition to this proposal, have been forwarded direct to my Department. Cleveland county council has until 5 August to transmit statutory objections, together with its observations on the objections, to the Secretary of State. My right hon. Friend will then reach a decision on the proposal as quickly as a proper consideration of the issues involved allows.
