§ Mr. Eggarasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether a management information and accounting system is in use in his Department, the Inland Revenue and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise; whether the information adduced is received and analysed at ministerial level; whether it is publicly available; and whether any changes are proposed in the coming year.
§ Mr. HayhoeEach of the Chancellor's departments has management information and accounting systems compatible with their various functions. These are used to provide Ministers with both general reports and with information relevant to particular questions that arise in the normal course of business; and for publication in, for example, the annual reports from the Boards of Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise. Such systems are continuously developing in response to new needs and responsibilities. During the corning months however there will be a particular review of management information systems as part of the programme to improve financial management. As my hon. Friend will know, further details of this programme will be included in the Government's response to the report from the Treasury and Civil Service Committee.
