Both tables are based on the Standard Industrial Classification (Revised 1980) which is replacing the Standard Industrial Classification (Revised 1968) in economic statistics. They cover Divisions 2 to 4 of the new classification which approximates to the definition of manufacturing in the earlier classification.
4. Since establishments employing fewer than 20 persons are generally exempt from statistical inquiries conducted by the Business Statistics Office, estimates relating to these smaller units are subject to wide margins of error.
