§ Mr. Giles ShawThe policies of the south-east Dorset stucture plan are intended to provide for the needs of the area to 1996. The county council is currently monitoring the plan and this will establish when alterations are needed. My right hon. Friend is anxious that alterations should be made only where need is clearly established. An alteration would be appropriate for example if the forecasts on which the policies in the plan were based had proved wrong to such a degree as to cause problems for local plan work or development control.
