Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing the number of accidents notified to Her 83W Majesty's Factory Inspectorate for the past 10 years, together with the number investigated in each year and the number of enforcement notices issued by the Factory and Agriculture Inspectorate; and if he will make a statement.

Information about the numbers of accidents investigated during the years 1971 to 1974 cannot be obtained without disproportionate cost.
Notices were not issued prior to 1975; powers were granted to inspectors under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, which came into effect in 1975, when notices were first issued.
