HL Deb 13 July 1982 vol 433 c334WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

On what grounds they fail to supply the United Nations with data on their military budgets on the standard form approved by the General Assembly and what is their attitude towards the proposal by the United States of America for an agreed reporting and accounting system.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Belstead)

The Government have long published details of military expenditure. Earlier this year we decided that we should report the expenditure to the United Nations experts in the format which they have devised. We welcome the recent proposal by the United States to hold a conference to review progress on this issue.

House adjourned at nine minutes before five o'clock.
