§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Wales whether, in view of the diverse nature of unemployment problems in Wales, he will allow the Manpower Services Commission in the Principality greater autonomy and flexibility to adopt appropriate solutions.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsPolicies to help the unemployed must be considered on a Great Britain basis. However, my Department and I are in close touch with the Manpower Services Commission both nationally and locally to ensure that these policies are developed and implemented in a way which reflects the needs of Wales.
