§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Minister for Trade whether in view of the fact that licences applied for by foreign steel producers to sell to the European Community doubled in the first three months of 1982, the Government will place any restriction on steel imports to the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter ReesThe increase in the number of licence applications in 1982 over 1981 reflects in large measure a return to the levels of earlier years. Both the Government and the European Commission carefully monitor the working of the voluntary restraint arrangements with third countries, including the number of licence applications, and are prepared to support anti-dumping action where this can be justified.
