HC Deb 06 July 1982 vol 27 cc83-4W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Minister for Trade whether he has studied the report by the Adam Smith Institute on free ports; what is his policy with regard to free ports; what discussions he has had with interested parties on this matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sproat

I am still considering the arguments advanced by the Adam Sraith Institute in favour of the establishment of free ports at certain airports, in the light of the views of outside bodies and individuals who have an interest in this subject. To date I have had useful discussions with Members of Parliament, local government authorities, airport management and industrial organisations on free ports.
