asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of total employees was in employment in manufacturing industry in the years 1951, 1961, 1971 and 1981.

Because of changes in the methods of obtaining the statistics and changes in the Standard Industrial Classification, figures on a consistent basis are available only from 1959.
