§ 41. Mr. George Cunninghamasked the Attorney-General if the Lord Chancellor will, in future, include in his annual report on judicial statistics information on the number of persons who have been held in custody awaiting trial for periods in excess of six months.
§ The Attorney-GeneralI regret that this is not possible. The statistics which include information about the period between committal and trial are derived from records kept in the Crown court, and information about the time spent in custody before committal cannot be derived from these records.
