§ 31. Sir David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Industry what further proposals he has to encourage British industry to use the latest techniques of computer-aided design more widely.
§ Mr. WakehamThe primary responsibility for ensuring that techniques for computer-aided design and manufacture are introduced into industry rests with those who sell them and those who use them. The Department is encouraging a wider appreciation of the benefits that these techniques can bring to a number of manufacturing industries with a three-year awareness campaign which began this month.
Financial support for relevant research and development and pre-production orders is also available within existing schemes. The Department will continue to review the need for further ways of assisting industry in using CADCAM techniques.
